"I would have been happy - happier - today if the prize had gone to that beautiful writer Isak Dinesen (Karen Von Blixen)…"
Ernest Hemmingway, upon winning the Nobel Prize for Literature

The Bungalow is the most exotically appointed of our lodgings, with dramatic dark wood furniture and African artifacts, designed as a tribute to Baroness Von Blixen (Isak Dinesen of Out of Africa) who lived and loved [and wrote] about the land of Africa, and its dynamic sensual nature.
This abode is constructed of A-frame ceilings and a loft bedroom with large windows that look out on the Bishop Pines [reminiscent of an ancient and wild location]. From the bedroom loft, there's even a picture window for a snapshot of the water below. A unique collection of Kuba textiles and ceremonial masks hang from every wall. Also contributing to the exotic experience is the very private outdoor shower.

The kitchenette area is well suited for preparing your own continental breakfast with fresh ground coffee (fitting, as Karen Von Blixen raised coffee in Kenya). And have afternoon tea on the spacious deck overlooking the Inverness wilderness.
There is a comfortable and charming loveseat for two and the whole atmosphere is that of being on safari, just as Baron Von Blixen and Hemingway used to do: adventure of the wilderness by day, enjoyment of company and luxury by night. You may feel as if you have left California all together…
